Digital Download Instructions
*Below are instructions for guests who have already visited and purchased digital images in the studio . If you haven't visited us yet please check out our Services page or FAQ for more info! If you bought digital images on the website you will receive an email.
Remember you only have one month to download images! We recommend downloading them as soon as you get to a computer so you can put it out of your mind and not have to worry about it!
Text across your pictures on the website (called a watermark) will not appear on downloaded images.
First you'll need access to your gallery which can be found here. Photos are organized by date then last name. The password is typically your zip code (just zip code, nothing else). This info can be found on the bottom right hand corner of any print that you bought in the studio. If you purchased just digital images and are having trouble please contact us.
2: Download Button
When you are in the gallery view you will see all the thumbnails of your images. In the upper right corner there will be a "Download" button. Select that.
3: This step is important! Download Entire Gallery
Make sure to choose "Download entire gallery". Even if you only bought one image you still need to choose "Download entire gallery".
4: Email or Immediate Download?
You can choose to download the zip file immediately (by clicking the link "last name_web_01.zip") or have it emailed to you once images are finished compressing. If you bought a lot of digital photos the zipping process might take a while so choosing email might be easier if you need to step away from your computer.
If you chose the email option your email's subject will be "Your files are ready!" and will come from Silk's Saloon Olde Tyme Photos. The download link will only be good for 7 days, so don't procrastinate!
You will get the email the same day you request it, but it might take a while (approx. 15 minutes). Don't forget to check your spam or junk folder as well! Security services or programs may also stop the email from coming through. So be sure to check those settings as well if you don't see it within the same day.
5: Download Zip Folder & Extract
For either choice, your images will download to the default location on your computer. Default location depends on your browser or personal settings. Most of the time the location will be the "Downloads" folder located here:
Images are in a zipped folder. Each system has different ways of extracting the images.
In Windows, usually you right click on the folder then choose “extract all”. On a Mac, double click it. That will then extract the zipped folder into a regular one.
If using a phone or tablet, refer to your devices's support for instructions to unzip your folder.
Antivirus Software Blocking Download
If you are having trouble please check your antivirus software. Some antivirus software will block the zip file from being downloaded. Each program is different so please check with your antivirus software provider to resolve this issue.
Printing services (like Wal-Mart, CVS, or SnapFish) will require you to have a release. Your release is available for download as a jpeg within your gallery and will automatically download along with your image(s). Please be sure to bring the release with you or give it to the company printing your photos. Should the company have any questions our phone number and email are included so they can contact us.
BACKUP! BACKUP! BACKUP!
We strongly urge you to backup your images. And would like to kindly remind you that we are not responsible for loss of images.
There are many good ways to backup your images - CDs, external hard drives, thumb drives, cloud storage (such as Google Drive or Drop Box), etc.
It is always a good idea to keep your digital data in two different places (at the bare minimum), ideally stored in separate locations in case of fire, flood, spilled juice, or things of that nature.
Phone or Tablet
If you are trying to download on a smart phone or tablet you will have to make sure you are viewing the website in "Desktop" mode instead of "Mobile".
To change it to desktop mode, scroll all the way to the bottom of your gallery (where you can see thumbnail images of all your photos) and choose "Desktop". After that you can follow the instructions as outlined and according to your device's operating instructions.
Please be aware that the images are large and may take up a majority of the storage on a phone or tablet. Downloading photos to a device is not recommend due to the size of your files and our inability to offer assistance for the wide variety of devices that exist.
